¡Hola, mi Gente!

For the last 10 days now, I’ve been doing my performances with a miserable lung virus. It’s been challenging, to say the least. My doctor says it’s the second wave of a nasty virus that’s been around since the beginning of this year and they’re getting inundated with calls and visits from patients. The funny thing is that most audiences couldn’t tell! I’ve learned to hide it and avoid the trouble notes and use great mic technique and extend those driving instrumental sections. At Sunday night’s private event, I even had them dancing into an overtime hour. I really don’t know how I do this…

But I’m so glad I can! I continue tomorrow, Tuesday Sept 3 at a venue I haven’t played in a year. I return to Casa Bella in Sunol from 5-8pm. This private event center will be doing one of these with live music — MAYBE two, depending on next month’s weather, so swing by for the sure date this Tuesday! I had turned down FOUR gigs this week, two of them private, because I was scheduled to be in Kauai this week. Unfortunately, two potential hurricanes had the same idea and were working their way to the islands to hit just after I would have, so I had to pull out at the last minute.

So I’m still here in Oak-town catching up on work and clients, and resting my back and shoulder a bit before jumping back into the fray on Saturday September 15 for a special public appearance at Havana in Walnut Creek, with the great Janice Maxie-Reid on keys and vocals. We don’t get to do this often, so I’m really looking forward to playing in duet with her again in this really fun room! We’ll probably include a couple tunes for the Queen of Soul. Details below.

And the other great duets lined up include the amazing Carlos Reyes on Saturday Sept 22; and Santana rock guitarist Carlos Hernandez on Friday Sept 28, all at Havana in Walnut Creek. Speaking of labor, my shoulders, arm and back have been screaming for a day off, so I’m giving them one. Until tomorrow.

I drop in to Maria, Maria in Walnut Creek on Tuesday September 4 out on the patio from 6-9pm for a little fun. Where are my Patriots? Rolando Morales and Carlos Reyes Saturday at The Vine and more

Former CIA Director John Brennan’s tweet after watching Trump’s Helsinki news conference where Trump chose not to condemn Russia for it’s cyber operation to meddle in our elections, and chose instead to condemn the FBI for investigating it.

¡Hola, Mi Gente!

Well, America voted for a man who would shake things up. Mission accomplished!

Now seasoned veterans on both sides of the aisle seem equally enraged by his actions and words. We’ve known for some time now that the democrats have been short of spine, voice and message. Concurrently, the republicans have been scrambling to “explain” his words and actions and remained in lock step support with his actions and increasingly questionable policies. Party first, country second.

Where are the real patriots? Isn’t it time we all say enough is enough? Isn’t it time we all acknowledge he doesn’t really care about putting America first? He really only values himself. Even when confronted with undeniable evidence of Russian interference, he perceives only that it threatens the legitimacy of his own election win, despite the report saying there was insufficient evidence that the meddling affected the election outcome. There’s a big, black hole in him that he just can’t fill.

The world was replete with memes and cartoons that touched on the events of the last couple days. Pretty good ones, too! The one I posted here is comparatively tame and artful against so many of the angrier, bawdier ones that are so prevalent.

Through it all, I’ll keep pushing forward with my music, bringing what I hope is an uplifting, personal experience we can share together. I won’t be doing as many public shows the rest of this month, but I do have a great one happening this Saturday July 21st from 8-11pm at The Vine in Danville, when I’ll be playing with the great violinist Carlos Reyes. We don’t do this often at this venue, so don’t miss it! Details below.
