Susan Pohlman joins the Mustang Rally. We asked why Susan what drove her to support horses.
She answered: This one could go on & on. I've been battling to save these horses for quite some time; they are my passion. With 28 roaming free in my pastures/sanctuary right now my fight is only beginning.
We sold our home in the Portland area because I was running 17 horses on 3 acres and knew that it was only the beginning. We purchased 156 in the Roseburg area (southern Oregon) and now I'm finding that with my dreams this isn't going to be big enough! We attend as many horse events that we can, having a booth there with educational materials. I've had to deal with those that think mustangs/wild horses will only kill you and aren't worth anything; that they are desert trash! I used to get a little vocal about it. =) I still do, but now I have the knowledge and always have a lot of informational literature to back my statements.
People who come out to visit the ranch can't tell that my mustangs are any different than the domestics we have. So, what do I do? I run a sanctuary and rescue 24/7. I volunteer for the local BLM to help educate new adopters, pick up horses in distress, and do compliance checks when asked. We always have room for BLM seizures and fosters. I try to rescue as many BLM horses from the feedlots as I can & when I'm notified they are there. We also have a variety of domestics from all kinds of situations. Many saved from the feedlots, some surrendered (and we only accept these under special conditions - we are not in to taking on someone else's financial burden), and some who have just come here to retire.
Our ranch offers "Un Lugar del Refugio" - A Place of Refuge, where the horses can feel safe and secure. Horses that can be rehomed go to qualified adopters who will give them great homes, and those that we feel would benefit more in a sanctuary setting remain with us in a forever home capacity. Our lives are dedicated to the care and welfare of these horses.
Thanks you Susan!

Rolando Morales joins the Mustang Rally. Rolando Morales and RioVida Networks have come together to promote the Mustang Rally. Together we are starting an international effort to raise awareness of the need to save the wild Mustangs. The Mustang Rally was created to host a fun and exciting community effort to save the Mustang. The Mustang Rally will supply help to non-profit organizations and Mustang sanctuaries, which provide a natural environment for those animals that can be saved from human irresponsibility.
“This offers me the opportunity to blend my Latin and American sensibilities to do something to help the plight of this important part of our national heritage. These beautiful creatures are among the last surviving symbols of our great American heritage. The Mustang Rally gives me the opportunity to touch hearts and minds, to shine a light on this tragedy, and to create positive change through the power of music,” said Rolando
RioVida Networks and Rolando Morales will donate 10% of CD sales from the Mustang Rally site to this effort and invites all of you to become part of the Mustang Rally. The Friends of the Mustang Rally wish to welcome Rolando into the community. Click here to "Join the Mustang Rally."
