Flo Simon explains that artists have a different way of looking at the world. They pay attention to the minute details of things. When he looks at a drop of water he sees it with all its colors, shadows, highlights, down to the individual pigments. When looking at his work this is clearly apparent.
Flo Simon perfected his art by studying the old masters. He learned that in order to create the 3D effect they often apply each color individually with the end goal in mind.
Similar to the printing process - first all the blue, then all the red, then all the yellow layers. He might go through that process and put on layer after layer. Some of his paintings have 52 different layers. The end result is spectacular. His style ranges from the realistic portraits of the old masters to the dreamscapes of Salvador Dali - but always can you tell if it is a Flo Simon painting.
He has a gentle and clean way of painting that seems precise and crisp yet puts you into a relaxed mood of contemplation most nearly immediately. We hope you enjoy his work as much as we do.
The painting of the orange slice is approximately 6 feet by 6 feet.
