Access Adventure

Anywhere Wild! offers remote, scenic, multi-day wilderness experiences for people living with mobility challenges

The mission is to expand the opportunities for outdoor recreation with horses throughout the world. We use the Access Adventure model to promote wilderness and open space access for people living with the challenges of disability. The HorseJourney Team networks with experienced local carriage drivers that have suitable horses for the work. We provide connections and plans for suitable, wheelchair accessible horsedrawn vehicles.

Organizing the volunteers, with the support of local carriage driving clubs, provides fun, access to nature and much needed recreation for people who might not otherwise enjoy life outdoors. Following New Zealand and Australia, long range plans call for HorseJourney treks in South America and Africa. Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has."

MIchael is living proof that one man can make a difference. Naturally he gathered friends, volunteers and supporters. He decided that he was going to live life to the fullest and enjoy what he loves best - the Great Outdoors. He and his teams believe that a close relationship with the natural world enhances the quality of life for everyone. With innovative design and technology, they use horsedrawn carriages that lift aboard people with mobility challenges, accommodating wheelchairs, providing recreation and educational opportunities relating to nature. Their program includes outreach to underserved youth.

They advocate the acquisition and preservation of wilderness and open space lands as a precious resource for all people. They foster environmental education opportunities and teach sustainable agriculture. They support the development of equestrian access on public lands. They maintain thoughtful, caring and safe standards of husbandry relating to our working partners, the horses that serve Access Adventure.
