Glenn Richman teaches Bass and leads the UC Jazz Intermediate Combo I

He frequently performs with the Bobby Hutcherson Quartet and the Eddie Marshall Band. A versatile bassist, Richman has played with Chet Baker, John Hicks, Joe Henderson, Billy Hart, Larry Willis, George Coleman, and Benny Green, Jon Hendricks, Dave Liebman, Benny Green, Dakota Staton, Chris Conner, Tom Harrel, Eddie Henderson, Mike Clark, Jack Wilkins, Billy Hart, Larry Willis, George Colman and Mickey Roker.

Aside from his responsibilities at the UC Jazz Ensembles, he teaches at The Jazz school - Berkeley, CA, Jazz Camp West, and at the Stanford Jazz Workshop.

Prior to settling in the Bay Area, Glenn has taught at the Yokohama Jazz School, P.A.M. Music School - Tokyo, and the ART Music School - Geneva, Switzerland.

He began his musical career with a sixteen year residence in New York where he performed with many jazz legends including the Albert Daley Trio, Jon Hendricks, the Larry Willis Trio, Dakota Staton, the Michael Wolfe Trio, and Jimmy Smith.

Glenn Richman was born in Philadelphia. At the age of 18 he moved to Paris where he studied music and attended college. He then moved back to the United States to attend Berklee School of music in Boston. After 2 1/2 years at Berklee, Glenn moved to New York to study at the Mannes Conservatory. Glenn studied bass with the great Buster Williams and George Mraz, and Mike Longo. From New York, Glenn moved to Japan for 4 years then to Geneva for a couple of years.

Glenn Richman is one of the bass teachers for the Brubeck Institute Fellowship. He shares this honor with fellow bass teachers including Christian McBride, Michael Moore, Jeff Chambers, Rufus Reid, and Marcus Shelby.

Carol Sudhalter, recorded her first LP, Hey There( on her own label, Carolina Records) with Jack Wilson on piano, Glenn Richman on bass, and Clarence "Tootsie" Bean on drums. She is very active with the International women in Jazz.
