Freedom is not the end - it is the beginning.

Many of us already live in nice homes, nice towns, and relatively good schools and safe neighborhoods. So, who really cares of whether children in Singapore have better math scores than our neighbors' children. Well, if we don't care about our towns, our kids and our neighbors we may risk that our own future takes a turn for the worse.

Kids need to feel wanted, cared for and stimulated. Today when 7 out of every 10 American children doesn't have a father at home - mothers are overwhelmed. These mothers and their children need the community to rally around them to care for them. What we invest in our neighbor's children will very quickly determine in what type of neighborhood we live in. If the kids are educated, happy and are preparing themselves for their future they will believe in their ability to create their own destiny. When they are busy studying, participating in healthy hobbies - they will not come to our homes to robb us for the things they feel they will not be able to earn with the poor education we give them. The more we believe they are worthy of our support, the more they will believe in supporting us in our old age. It is up to us. What we put in - is what we will get in return.

We are free to create the kind of life we want! We are free to create wonderful neighborhoods. Let's create the dream where each of us can sit side by side and enjoy each other's company. African American's always, throughout history have set the tone of every civilization. During this time of major demographic change (the average age is "old") we should invite everyone to join us in creating happy and safe towns that offer music, art, great school programs during and after school hours. Let's care for the young and the old and thereby ourselves.
